Trauma & Anxiety Specialist

Providing exceptional EMDR therapy for those ready to move beyond survival mode and step into a calmer, more regulated way of being.

You’re exhausted from holding it all together.

Maybe you’re the strong one in the family or the helper everyone turns to. On the outside, you seem capable—calm, even—but inside, you’re tense, overwhelmed, and always bracing for the next thing to go wrong. You might find yourself constantly on edge, replaying past events, struggling to rest, or feeling detached from the life you’re living. Whether your pain stems from a single event or the slow buildup of stress, responsibility, or loss over time, it’s taken a toll on your mind, your body, and your relationships.

If you’ve been told to “just move on” or “have more faith,” yet you’re still stuck in patterns of anxiety, guilt, anger, or shame—you’re not alone, and you’re not broken.

Your symptoms are not character flaws; they are survival responses from a nervous system doing its best to protect you. Healing is possible. Together, we can create a space where your story is honored, your body is listened to, and your whole self is gently supported in finding relief, clarity, and peace.

My Approach

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Jacksonville, NC. I help adults and teens who are dealing with anxiety and trauma, especially those feeling stuck in survival mode.

I have a heart for working with anxious moms, parents navigating postpartum challenges, survivors of childhood trauma, active duty military, veterans, first responders, and people of Christian faith, including those who may be healing from spiritual abuse or religious harm.

My approach is grounded in mind-body connection, helping you move out of fight, flight, or freeze and into a space where real healing can happen. I am EMDR-certified and use a trauma-informed, psychodynamic lens with “parts work” (Ego States Therapy) to explore how different parts of you developed in response to pain—and how we can help them finally find relief.

Healing is possible, and I’d be honored to walk with you on that journey.

What is EMDR Therapy?

When we experience something traumatic or overwhelming, the brain is built to respond and adjust. But sometimes instead of moving through, it gets stuck. EMDR helps the brain resume its natural healing process in order to resolve painful memories and create lasting change.

Wait, What’s Root & River?

At Root & River, healing begins with grounding and flows into growth. The root symbolizes safety, stability, and the deep inner work that anchors us - essential for trauma recovery and lasting change. The river represents movement, emotional flow, and the spiritual journey of healing. Together these elements reflect the therapeutic process: being deeply rooted while also allowing space for transformation, resilience, and renewal.

The name "Root and River" is inspired by Jeremiah 17:7-8, which speaks of the person who trusts in the Lord as like “a tree planted by the river, with roots that reach deep into the waters.” This symbolizes both the inward depth and outward nourishment essential for holistic well-being.

Whether you’re navigating trauma, life transitions, or questions of identity or faith, Root and River offers a place to be held and gently carried forward - with strength, compassion and purpose.

Deeply Rooted, Gently Carried.
